Elements For Mini Albums, Junk Journals and Scrapbooks

Image
Hello! Welcome back to my Blog and I hope you are having a terrific day! Lately I've been thinking on some different ways to put some oomf in our Mini Albums, Scrapbooks and Junk Journals. Creative elements that will surprise and hopefully, a few of these ideas will be new to you. I'm going to be taking a look at stepping up old ideas as well as introducing you to some new ones and I'll be packaging them up in a new YouTube series called Elements. Today's video comes with a tutorial on how to make some cute tags but we'll step those up so that there is a pop-up surprise inside. As you will hear in the video, I talk about how these pop-up tags can also double as a card on a package or, with Christmas coming, they can be used as gift card holders. Of course you can also place a photo in them or do a little bit of journaling on them too! This is also a great way to your up your scrap card stock and designer paper collections.  Watch: Wouldn't a bunch of these be cu

Simon Says Stamp Fall Mini Album and Tutorial

Hello Everyone! It's been a while since I shared a new project on my blog; but my YouTube channel will always be around and I am posting project shares from time to time.  If you want to keep up on my latest paper creations you can find me on YouTube here .  Click the subscribe button and you'll never miss a video.  Having said that, my latest project was done using Simon Says Stamp's October card kit from their kit of the month club. If you join the monthly club you'll receive something each month very similar to what I show you in part one of the tutorial video for $30, plus shipping. You can cancel at any time and the kits are also available without a subscription for $35, but they usually sell out fairly quickly. I am not sponsored by SSS but I do like their products, and my experience purchasing various items from them has been great.  I recommend you give them a try.  I challenged myself to see if it was possible to use the card kit to make a mini album. I'm

Mini Lighted Shadowbox Vignettes Tutorial

Image
I don't know about you but i like to save the scraps that are left over from my Mini Album projects. After all, we spend a good amount of money on some of these collections so we should find other ways to use them. The most obvious 'go to' for our scrappy bits are greeting cards, but what other uses are there? Did you know that small vignettes have become popular in the last few years?  Mixed Media Artists, like Tim Holtz, get to really show off their talent and imagination by making small display pieces with different themes.  Inspired by this, I thought I could use my saved bits and pieces to make these mini shadowbox type vignettes, which would be a fun little gift idea for an older child or for someone who has a holiday tree they keep up year-round. They could even be used as a tag, of sorts, to accompany a gift. How about personalizing them using a photo of a friend or family member as the star of the show? Go a step further and add some tiny LED

Harry Potter Junk Journal

I love to reuse and recycle junk and maybe stuff that's not so junkie. Have you ever made a junk journal? I've made a few now and I have to say i'm definitely a lover of junk. A while ago I gave my daughter a behind the scenes movie magic book about the Harry Potter Movies. The book had great pictures, stories and recreation ephemera. I say had because there was a little accident and the book got wet. That's where the idea for this junk journal came from. I salvaged what I could, which most people would now consider trash, and put it together in my latest creation a Harry Potter themed junk journal. There are so many people who grew up with the books and movies and are still in love with this story and it's characters, those same people have brought journaling to the mainstream. Combing the two is a no brainer and hopefully I've created something that will be loved, an heirloom full of memories to be cherished later. You've hea

Steampunk Debutante Mini Album

Image
Hello and welcome back to FSP Blog! My next project share is a mini album using Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante Deluxe Collectors Edition paper collection. This is another fun and quirky paper line where you can really stretch your imagination with album design, I certainly did!  The cover was made using embossing folders and a faux painting technique which causes the embossed paper to look like old copper. The embossing folders used were from Tim Holtz's new line of 3-D Texture Fades. The detail in this line of folders is amazing. There are two layers on the cover, the first are the embossed doors which were given a green copper patina, the second layer is the groupings of gears painted to look similar to an old copper penny. If you would like to see how I achieved both looks you can visit my Instagram  account for a short video demonstration. I made a  tutorial on how I constructed the base of each page, which you can easily customize to suit your sty
