Simon Says Stamp Fall Mini Album and Tutorial

 Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since I shared a new project on my blog; but my YouTube channel will always be around and I am posting project shares from time to time.  If you want to keep up on my latest paper creations you can find me on YouTube here.  Click the subscribe button and you'll never miss a video.

Having said that, my latest project was done using Simon Says Stamp's October card kit from their kit of the month club. If you join the monthly club you'll receive something each month very similar to what I show you in part one of the tutorial video for $30, plus shipping. You can cancel at any time and the kits are also available without a subscription for $35, but they usually sell out fairly quickly. I am not sponsored by SSS but I do like their products, and my experience purchasing various items from them has been great.  I recommend you give them a try.

I challenged myself to see if it was possible to use the card kit to make a mini album. I'm sure there are some, like myself, that don't really make a lot of cards.  I wanted to give you some inspiration or maybe you want to try out some new product, paper, build up your stamp stash, and make a few cards once in a while.  A monthly club is a great way for you to do that. It's an easy way to sample products without having to buy buy whole reams of paper, or other things you find out you're not going to use later. With all that 2020 has brought with it, I really wanted to start making cards for friends to send a little "happy mail' their way. Who doesn't love a surprise in the mail, am I right! This also helps to find new uses for the supplies we invest so much money into, and maybe in the future, I'll do some videos on just that subject.

For now, here is a video walk through.  If you would like to know how i put this album together, check out the other two videos. I'll also leave a cut list down below!

Happy crafting,

Project Cut List

Cover

2 pieces of 6 in. x 4 1/2 in. chipboard, 1 piece of 6 in. x 1 1/4 in. chipboard

Center and adhere your chipboard pieces onto an 8 in. x 12 in. piece of card stock lengthwise leaving a gap between the pieces that is 1/8 in to 1/4 in wide.

Cover the inside of the cover with a piece of card stock measuring 5 3/4 in x 10 1/2 in with adhesive of your choice.

Stacking Hinge

Cut 1 piece of card stock to 5 1/2 in x 1 1/2 in. then score at 3/8 in. and 1 1/18 in.

Cut another piece of card stock to 5 1/2 in. x 1 in then score at 3/8 in. and 5/8 in.

Fold both pieces of card stock on scorelines so that that make a 'U' shape and center the smaller piece inside the larger one making sure that you have a 1/4 in. gap between all of the hinges. I used scor-tape for this but you can use glue or whatever you would normally use. Before you attach the hinge to the inside of the cover make sure your pages fit.

Pages

For the pages I used 2- 8 1/2 in. x 11 in. pieces of card stock and the 2 envelopes that came in the kit.

For the cardstock---With the 8 1/2 in. side in the top of your scoreboard score at 4 1/4 in. Rotate the paper so the 11 in. side is at the top of your scoreboard then score at 5 1/2 in., do this for both pieces of card stock. Now rotate the card stock back so that the 8 1/2 in side is at the top again and cut out the right score line, Only going as far as the middle score line. *refer back to Part 1 video if you need clarification.*

For the envelopes--Seal Both envelopes, then using a paper trimmer or a pair of scissors, cut a small sliver off of the longer side of the envelope, on the short end cut at 5 1/2 in. that way the envelopes are the same size at the card stock pages when folded.
